Performing Arts at Duncanville I.S.D.
The Duncanville Independent School Fine Arts program is widely acknowledged as one of the finest in the state. This program produces high quality music and dramatic performances at school and community events throughout the year.

DUNCANVILLE ISD BAND
The Duncanville ISD is nationally renowned for its band program, and the district provides quality music performances at various times throughout the year. The High School Marching Band is one of only a few programs worldwide to win both the Sudler Shield of Honor and the Sudler Flag of Honor. The marching band has advanced to the UIL finals every year since 1988, and has won state UIL championships in 1986, 1990, and 2002. The Wind Ensemble has never received a rating less than "Superior" in any UIL or invitational competition and has been the Region XX "Honor Band" every year since 1980. The ensemble has also been recognized as feature performers at several national and international conferences.

Additionally, the middle schools of the district have been recognized as "Honor Bands" several times in the past years. Local residents can enjoy performances at various events, such as football halftime shows, school recitals, and other area occasions.

DUNCANVILLE ISD CHOIR
Duncanville ISD also offers one of the finest choir departments in the state of Texas. The Duncanville High School Choral program consists of the JV Women’s Chorale, JV Men’s Chorale, Varsity Women’s Chorale, The Madrigal Singers, the Award Winning Show Choir “Swingers” and the A Cappella Choir. Each of these groups perform at school and community functions throughout the year. Duncanville also hosts the All-City Choir Competition, which showcases some of the finest choirs in the state. Holiday Choir performances by the Duncanville middle schools are also widely popular with the community.

DUNCANVILLE ISD THEATRE
The Duncanville High School Theatre Department provides students of the district the opportunity to be involved with dramatic performances. The Theatre produces four performances each year and their annual fashion show, in addition to assisting the choir department with production of their annual musical. These performances are generously supported by many individuals and organizations in the Duncanville community.

DALLAS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE PERFORMING ARTS
Dallas County Community Colleges are a exception resources for performing art opportunities near Duncanville. Mountain View Community College, located 5 minutes from Duncanville, produces various performances throughout the year in all areas. The college maintains a drama department, dance department, and a music department, each producing events in their respective areas. In addition to the various departmental events, the college hosts a variety of guest performers from around the area. These opportunities allow the residents of Duncanville to see additional musical, dance, and dramatic performances. Cedar Valley College, located 11 miles east of Duncanville, is locally known for its Family Music Theatre Productions which present a variety of musicals for all ages to enjoy.

NOKIA THEATRE
The Nokia Theatre of Grand Prairie is located less than 15 miles from Duncanville. The theatre is home to a vast array of musical acts, comedy shows, and other live performances. The theatre is an award winning indoor 6,350-seat amphitheater designed will superior acoustic preference and viewer comfortability in mind.

DALLAS PERFORMING ART EVENTS LESS THAN 15 MINUTES AWAY
With the city of Duncanville located less than 15 minutes from downtown Dallas, there are multitudes of performing art opportunities to be seen any time during the year. The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center is the home of the Dallas Symphony and is located in downtown Dallas less than 15 miles away. The Dallas Latino Culture Center also supports a 300 seat theatre and hosts a variety of performances. Just to the east of downtown is Fair Pair, a historic area which contains many museums and a music hall.

The Music Hall at Fair Park is the home of the Dallas Opera which produces fine opera performances throughout the year. The Music Hall at Fair Park is also home to the Dallas Summer Musicals, a nonprofit production organization which aims to bring quality theatrical performances to the area.

Additionally in historic Fair Park, the Smirnoff Music Center is an outdoor amphitheater that houses numerous music concerts each year. The Dallas Bach Society is also based out of Dallas, and produces fine baroque performances at various sites around the Metroplex. In addition to these premier performing art events and productions, the Dallas area offers many other types of performances at a wide variety of venues, from churches to universities to primary schools.
